FAQ's: FAQ

DO I NEED TO HAVE PLAYED BEFORE TO JOIN THE SESSIONS?

Our junior sessions are age specific. Wherever the coach feels the child is more suited to a different stage/ball than they are currently using, Head Coach Ben Orton will have this honest discussion with the parent. Our adult sessions vary in their structure and difficulty. Please see the home page for more detail about each individual session.

HOW DO I BOOK AN INDIVIDUAL LESSON WITH BEN?

Lessons can be booked face to face at the club, otherwise initially via email at benortontennis@outlook.com

HOW CAN JUNIOR OR ADULT GROUP LESSONS BE BOOKED?

All junior classes are to be booked through the website on the Book Online page or via the link on the website's home page.
Adult tennis classes should also be booked online, but PAYG classes such as cardio tennis are payable at the start of the lessons each week via cash. Please try to have the correct change wherever possible.

I NEED ADVICE ABOUT RACQUETS AND STRINGS. WHO SHOULD I TALK TO?

Speak to Ben at the club or via the 'contact me' section of the home page. Visit IT Sports at Clifton Moor, York, the UK's leading racquet specialist for a professional opinion.

WHAT KIND OF FOOTWEAR SHOULD I BE USING TO PLAY OR PUTTING MY CHILD INTO?

To prevent injury on court, I would always recommend a sensible pair of comfortable tennis shoes. For our courts, clay court or all court soles will be fine, but allow plenty of room so your foot has room to breathe and room at the toe to prevent impact injury.

I HAVE A SAFEGUARDING CONCERN. WHAT SHOULD I DO TO RAISE THIS?

Follow the safeguarding 'reporting a concern' form on our Safeguarding page of this website.

DO YOU PUBLISH YOUR CLUB POLICIES?

Our regularly updated club policies are published here:

HOW CAN I BECOME A MEMBER?

All generic membership enquiries should be made to Ross Welsh, our club chair person via email here:

If you have already decided to join the club, please complete our online membership form here and you will hear back from Ross shortly via your chosen method of communication.

HOW CAN I BOOK COURTS?

Strensall Tennis Club uses the LTA's court booking software 'ClubSpark' to book courts. Court bookings are on a first come, first served basis and bookings are 1 hour in length. It is possible to make back-to-back bookings, but these must be under a different members name and all participants full names must be present on the booking. It will not be possible to book a court(s) where group lessons are taking place. ClubSpark will not allow such bookings to proceed, so there is no need to specify these ahead of time as the software updates automatically after group sessions are inputted for each course. Once you are a member of the club, you will be sent the ClubSpark login details and gain booking privileges.
